The End of an Era
I would like to announce that after more than 32 incredible years, Breastfeeding Perspectives will be coming to a close. Since the beginning, it has been my life’s work and deepest honor to offer lactation support to families throughout San Antonio and the surrounding areas. As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and registered nurse, I’ve walked alongside countless mothers—celebrating victories, navigating challenges, and helping them reach their breastfeeding goals.
Now, after much prayer and reflection, I’ve made the bittersweet decision to retire. Breastfeeding Perspectives will officially close when our building lease ends on October 31, 2025. Though it’s difficult to say goodbye to a community that has meant so much to me, I’m also looking forward to spending more time with my loved ones and exploring new creative passions.
A Look Back
Looking back, I’m filled with profound gratitude for the families I’ve had the privilege to serve. From adoptive and surrogate parents, to single moms and mothers navigating incarceration, it’s been a blessing to support so many different journeys.
Through providing educational presentations for expectant and new moms, and consulting with businesses seeking to support breastfeeding employees, Breastfeeding Perspectives has always been about more than lactation—it’s been about empowerment, compassion, and community.
I’ve had the honor of helping mothers overcome latching issues, soothe damaged nipples, address low milk supply, release oral restrictions, and support babies with slow weight gain. Every challenge met, every milestone reached, has reminded me why I chose this path.
To every family, colleague, and supporter who has been part of this journey—thank you. You’ve helped shape this chapter of my life in ways I will never forget.
Final Thoughts
We haven’t yet made a final decision about the future of the website and blog, but I’ll be sure to share an update by the end of the year. We hope you have been enjoying our blog content and finding it insightful.
While this marks the end of my professional journey in lactation support, it is my sincere hope that you will continue to seek healthier lactation practices and the support of a trusted lactation specialist who can make all the difference. Keep learning, keep advocating, and most importantly, keep believing in the strength and resilience of families.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for walking this path with me.
With love and gratitude,
— Kathy
